Folk Architecture of Eastern Ukraine

Some of our archival collections also have material related to Ukrainian folk art. Most prominent are the Konstantyn Moshchenko Papers, which include his drawings, photographs, watercolors, and research expedition field notes made in the 1910s or 1920s. An architect by training, Moshchenko was particularly interested in folk architecture, which he documented in great detail. Below are some of his photographs and drawings of village houses in the Poltava and Zaporizhia regions of eastern Ukraine.
