The Holovna Rada Khresta Symona Petliury was the body responsible for awarding the military order of the Cross of Symon Petliura to all eligable veterans of the Ukrainian War of Independence. This collection principally contains submitted application forms containing biographical information and military service histories of individual applicants who wished to obtain the Cross.

Biographical / Historical

The Holovna Rada Khresta Symona Petliury (Головна Рада Хреста Симона Петлюри, Supreme Council of the Cross of Symon Petliura) was the body responsible for awarding the military order of the Cross of Symon Petliura. This military decoration was established in 1932 by the high command of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic in exile, and all veterans of the Ukrainian War of Independence were eligible.

Scope and Contents

This collection principally contains application forms submitted by individuals who believed they were eligible to obtain the military order of the Cross of Symon Petliura. These applications include biographical information, what units and military actions the applicant participated in, and often include supporting documentation. Applicants include both soldiers as well as women who served as nurses or in other non-combat roles. In addition, there are meeting minutes, award certificates (some incompletely filled out), financial records, and blank forms (including US Military Government of Germany forms).

Цей фонд в основному містить заявки, подані особами, які вважали, що вони заслужили ордена Хреста Симона Петлюри. На них біографічні відомості, списки військових частин в яких дана особа служила, призвіща командирів, та додаткова документація. Між заявники не тільки солдати, але і жінки, які служили як медсестери або в інших небойових ролях. Також є протоколи засідань, нагородні сертифікати (деякі не повністю заповнені), та фінансові звіти.

Series structure was imposed by the processing archivist. In addition, three folders of minutes (numbers 72, 73, and 89) were incorporated from materials that had been accessioned as the Hryhorii Maslivets' papers.
