Online Advanced Cyrillic Workshop for Genealogists and Historians

Registration is closed for this event
Are you already comfortable reading printed or neatly written Ukrainian, but are stymied by the (shall we say) less-than-perfect cursive in early 20th century documents? Then this workshop is for you!

UHEC archivist Michael Andrec will lead an online interactive discussion using documents from the Center's Archives collections with handwriting that ranges from the not-so-bad to the seriously challenging.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, we will be presenting this workshop ONLINE for FREE! Since this is our first foray into this kind of online workshop, attendance will be strictly limited to 10 people (first-come, first-served). You must register!

The workshop will begin at 2:15 pm Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4:00) on March 28th.

PREREQUISITES: To benefit from this workshop, you must already know how to read "textbook" cursive Cyrillic and have a moderate level of reading comprehension in Ukrainian. All example documents will be in Ukrainian, but the workshop itself will be in English. The workshop will be presented via GoToMeeting, which can be accessed using the latest version of the Google Chrome browser on most operating systems.
