Discovering History: The Archives of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus

Join us for a presentation of the archives of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus, founded in Kyiv in 1918 and now based in North America. The UBC's Archivist Mykola Murskyj will provide an overview of how a small team was able to create a systematic, digitized archive encompassing thousands of never-before-seen documents and photos, in addition to sharing some of the most exciting items they discovered.

Mykola Murskyj is the Archivist of the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America (Українська Капеля Банудристів ім. Тараса Шевченка). He works as the Director of Government Affairs at Razom, an nonprofit organization dedicated to helping build a more prosperous and democratic Ukraine. Murskyj is the Director of the annual Kobzarska Sich bandura camp, and he has played with the UBC since 2007. Prior to joining Razom, Murskyj was a U.S. Presidential Management Fellow with the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Justice's Criminal Division. He holds a master's degree in international affairs from Harvard, as well as master's degrees in physics from MIT and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics.
