Learn about ancient symbols and legends, and make a traditional Ukrainian pysanka, using a wax-resist method!
In-person
Tuesday, March 25, 2025 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

During the period of Lent preceding Pascha, or Easter, Ukrainians write pysanky, or decorate eggs, using ancient symbols and a wax-resist method. From the deep past, these patterns were thought to imbue the egg with magical powers and ward away evil spirits, and they later took on Christian meanings. Join us at the Center to continue this age-old tradition as we get ready to welcome/visit spring.

The workshop is open to adults and children 12 and older.

Cost: $25 (All supplies included; additional supplies for home available to purchase)

Seating is limited to 16 participants per session, so register early!

Donations are gratefully accepted.

This in-person workshop will take place at the UHEC Library, 135 Davidson Avenue, Somerset, NJ 08873
