Donation of Kapshuchenko bronzes

December 19, 2012

Mr. John Bruce Schmitt, the son-in-law of sculptor Petro Kapshuchenko, recently donated two bronze sculptures by the artist to the Patr. Mstyslav Museum.

Those familiar with the Metropolia Center in South Bound Brook already know Kapshuchenko’s work: he was the artist responsible for the St. Olha and Metropolitan Lypkivs’kyi monuments on the grounds of St. Andrew’s Memorial Church.

We thank Mr. Schmitt for his generous gift and look forward to working with him to establish a “Kapshuchenko Room” in the Museum dedicated to the work of this important Ukrainian-American artist.
