Saint Nicholas visits the Historical and Educational Center

On Sunday afternoon, December 18th, 2016, Saint Nicholas visited the children and families gathered at the Heinrich Fisher Home. The visit was organized and sponsored by the Ukrainian History and Education Center. Center staff and volunteers decorated the historic Heinrich Fisher house in festive Christmas decor, offered complimentary refreshments of coffee, hot chocolate, bagels, and cookies, and conducted an educational workshop.

St. Andrew School visits Bervinchak Exhibit

On November 12, 2016, students from St. Andrew Ukrainian School, Somerset, NJ visited the exhibit "From Social Realism to Church Art" of works by Nicholas Bervinchak. The students then had a chance to make their own "etchings" using paint and Styrofoam plates.

From October 2016 through January 2017, the Center presents the exhibit "From Social Realism to Church Art: The Work of the Ukrainian-Lemko Artist Nicholas Bervinchak", which for the first time Bervinchak’s secular artworks were shown together with large-scale examples of his church art.

Nashi Predky Genealogy Conference, Fall 2016

On November 4-5, 2016, the Nashi Predky – Our Ancestors - Family History Group at the Ukrainian Historical and Educational Center of New Jersey held its third annual fall conference: “Research Essentials: Combining the Basics with 21st Century Technology”. Speakers included nationally known experts in Eastern European genealogy.

Center receives Maksymjuk recordings

The Center's holdings of Ukrainian recorded sound has grown significantly with the acquisition of cassette and reel-to-reel recordings made by Washington, D.C. area resident Sefan Maksymjuk.

On October 24, 2015, the Ukrainian Historical and Educational Center of NJ presented the annual "Nashi Predky - Our Ancestors" Fall Conference. The 50 attendees came from local New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania areas, but also included individuals who traveled from North Carolina and even California!

Center staff attends Ukrainian consortium conference

The Center's director Natalia Honcharenko, librarian Larissa Bulya, and archivist Michael Andrec attended the annual meeting of the Ukrainian Heritage Consortium of North America in Washington, DC. The Consortium is an informal association of Ukrainian cultural heritage institutions, museums, and archives.
